Relatable Content
Social media can feel overwhelming. Maybe you create an ambitious posting schedule that fizzles out quickly. Maybe you don’t know what to post about. Maybe you just want to drop the whole thing.
To prevent burnout, KISS is the best method. “Keep it simple, Stupid.”
Today, we focus on relatable content, the simple way. What does your ideal reader like? What do you like? Pick a few topics that are on brand and run with it. For example, my ideal reader (and follower) likes to read urban fantasy, likes cute animals, coffee, positive messages, and lighthearted/funny memes. I will create content with that:
urban fantasy books: I will share what new releases are out, what I’m reading, what I’ve liked/would recommend, what’s similar to my books, and what popular culture might relate to urban fantasy like trending urban fantasy movies or tv shows
Animals: I will post about my pets and share cute pet posts
Coffee: I will share my coffee mugs, pics of my coffee outings, and coffee memes/posts
Positive messages: I will find positive/motivational quotes and posts to share
Funny memes: I will collect memes and share them
Can you come up with ~5 things your ideal reader/follower likes? Can you come up with some content ideas based on those topics? Comment your ideas below!
On The Desk- What’s going on in our world?
Alina:
My WIP is due to the editor at the end of the month, so I have my hands full with getting my story into ship shape. I also realized that I don’t love the title or cover, so I’m changing them. And finally, I am working with a wonderful client on formatting her manuscript. She gave me a glowing review I put up on my website.
Martinique:
Up next for me is a deep dive into optimizing GooglePlay books for a client. I’ll be brainstorming keyword synonyms, adding the subtitle to the title, and connecting alternate versions of each book (ebook, paperback, audio, translations). It’s going to be a busy week.
Tip of the Week
Posting everyday is a great goal, but it’s more important to maintain a rhythm and not burn out. Create a plan you can manage long term and schedule posts ahead of time. That way creating social media content won’t stress you out every day, or even every week.
Next Time:
We’ll chat about Your Team: Alpha, Beta, and ARC readers.
Don’t miss it.
Until then, hang in there,
